Position
They prefer a semi to full shaded area, they are ideal for planting under trees or in a rock garden.
Soil
Dog's Tooth Violet 'Pagoda' grows best in a humus-rich well-drained soil and not too dry, although it is tolerant of most soils.
Planting
Place the small bulbs in a planting hole that is three times as deep as the height of the bulb, with a planting distance of 10 cm. Therefore a bulb of 2 cm should be planted in a 6 cm deep hole. Loosen the soil well and plant the bulbs with the roots facing downwards. Refill the planting hole with soil.
Care
The Dog's Tooth bulbs are suitable for naturalising and can remain in the same spot for years. Remove dead flower stems after flowering and this will direct the energy back into the bulb. After flowering, leave the foliage to die down naturally and cut back when it has turned yellow.
STORAGE
They are fully hardy plants and it is often recommended that you take precautions to avoid damage from slugs or pests.
