Iris Germanica need at least half a day of sun but full sun.
Soil
Iris Germanica prefers a pH range about 6.5 to 7. We suggest using any bark-based, well-drained, commercial soil-less mix.
Planting
We recommend planting from May until mid-July.
Care
Fertilize in early spring with an all-purpose fertilizer, avoiding direct contact with the rhizome. Do not overwater, as too much moisture in the soil can cause the rhizomes (roots) to rot, but do water deeply during summer drought. Consistent watering is especially important for re-blooming Irises. Irises are deer-resistant and drought-tolerant. However, they are susceptible to borers, so check the rhizomes (fleshy roots) yearly for holes, discarding any infested ones.
Storage
After the leaves yellows should dig up bulbs, cleaned and stored in a dark, cool place. Do not store the plants in closed boxes, as this will create condensation and might cause the roots to start rotting.
